Experience one of the most heavenly desserts you'll ever taste with this "Leftovers" Crinkle Phyllo Pie. Crafted from spare phyllo dough, this dish goes beyond mere convenience—it transforms simple ingredients into an utterly indulgent treat. Each bite offers a perfect mix of crispy, creamy textures, with a hint of rose that elevates the flavor to sublime heights. Garnished with pistachios and rose petals, it’s not just a pie, it’s a celebration of taste and texture that you’ll want to savor again and again.
Ingredients -
- 350 grams phyllo dough
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 300 grams condensed milk
- 1/2 teaspoon rose water (optional)
- Garnish: Pistachios, rose petals
For Tangy Red Slaw:
- 1/8 red cabbage head, thinly sliced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Juice of 1/2 a lemon
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions -
1. Preheat the oven to 390°F (200°C). Grease a 20x30 cm baking dish with some of the melted butter.
2. Cut phyllo sheets to roughly match the length of your baking dish, folding each sheet into fan-like strips. Arrange them in the dish so they are lightly pressed against each other, including any scraps folded similarly.
3. Brush every crinkle and crevice of the dough with melted butter for ultimate crispiness. Use any leftover butter to coat the top.
4. Bake for 25-30 minutes until it turns a deep golden brown, watching closely to avoid burning.
5.Mix the rose water with milk. After baking, evenly pour over the heavy cream, milk, and condensed milk mixture.
6. Return to the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the phyllo has absorbed almost all the liquid and the remainder has thickened.
7. Let the pie cool for 10-15 minutes before garnishing with chopped pistachios and rose petals.
This "Leftovers" Crinkle Phyllo Pie isn’t just good, it’s perhaps the best dessert you’ll ever have. It’s a masterful use of everyday ingredients to create a dish that’s nothing short of spectacular
